How We Survive
A community sustained by generosity
For over 40 years, Kopan Monastery has cared for a growing community of monks and nuns. From 40 residents in 1975, Kopan now supports around 760 people with food, clothing, education, healthcare, and spiritual training.
This has been possible through the blessings of the Buddha, the guidance of our teachers, and the generosity of benefactors worldwide. As the community grows, so do the needs—including a 15% rise in food costs over the past two years, accommodation upgrades, more teachers, and ongoing maintenance.
Your continued support helps Kopan remain a vibrant place of study and practice for young people of the Himalayan region, while preserving the religious and cultural heritage of Tibet.
