Light Of The Path Retreat
20 – 30 December 2026 (10 days)
Led by: Geshe Tenzin Namdak
A ten-day retreat following the Light of the Path series established by Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche, offering a structured opportunity for study, reflection, and meditation on the Middle Scope (Middle Capable Being). The retreat includes daily teachings, guided meditations, and morning and evening practices, supporting participants in integrating the teachings into lived experience within a supportive retreat environment.

Kopan Monastery is very pleased to announce that His Eminence Kyabje Jhado Rinpoche has graciously accepted our earnest request to bestow the cycle of initiations known as Rinjung Gyatsa and the initiation of Guru Rigzin Dungdrub.
Kyabje Jhado Rinpoche, former abbot of both Gyuto Tantric Monastery and Namgyal Monastery in Dharamsala, will confer the initiations of Rinjung Gyatsa and Rigzin Dungdrub as follows:
Dates: March 2 – 24, 2027
Venue: Kopan Monastery, Nepal
More about the initiations:
~ Rigdzin Dungdrub is a practice of Guru Rinpoche from the Northern Treasures (Jangter) tradition that was revealed by Rigdzin Gödem.
~ Rinjung Gyatsa comprises the practices, including subsequent permissions, of 305 deities. These include deities of various classes of tantra, including highest yoga tantra. Originated by Taranatha, who received and compiled these blessings and empowerments into a collection, Rinjung Gyatsa spread to all Tibetan Buddhist traditions, including Gelug.
Prerequisites:
~ One must have already received a great initiation of highest yoga tantra in order to receive Rinjung Gyatsa.
~ There is a commitment to recite the mantras of 39 of the deities upon receiving the respective subsequent permissions.
English translation available:
There will be simultaneous interpretation of Kyabje Jhado Rinpoche’s teachings into English. Listeners for the English translation should bring their own FM receivers.
